• What is Oekaki?
    • Oekaki essentially means 'doodle' in japanese. It's an online java-based graphic program that lets you draw in a web browser. To get to the drawing program, click the "Doodle" link at the top of each page.

First off, please, please respect the Moderators/Admins. We’re here to help you and make sure you’re having a fairly decent time using the Oekaki Boards, so we don't need you constantly telling us how much you hate us. If something is bothering you, whether it’s a particular rule, a specific Moderator, another user or you just have some gripe about the world in general that’s affecting your overall Oekaki experience, oemail one of us and we will be more than glad to help you out however we can and we’ll solve your problem to the best of our ability or direct you to someone who can. Nothing is too stupid or trivial to bring to our attention and there’s no reason you should feel too intimidated by us or anything to ask for our assistance with something. If you are found constantly insulting Moderators for picture deletions or just because you're grumpy, they have the right to suspend/ban you.

    Senpai

    • Senpai is an Intermediate, and Advanced skill level board. If you can’t meet up to standards, please post elsewhere and know that if you do post something substandard, it will be deleted without question.

    • If you doubt your ability to post an image that is up to standards, please oemail a mod with an oekaki you have done in Kouhai or elsewhere and ask whether it is substandard or not. If you post an oekaki and ask in the comment “Is this up to standards?” it will be deleted, and we won’t answer your question until you ask it the correct way.

    • OEPost is not compatible with the new Oekaki Board, thus we can no longer move images when you post them on the wrong board. We were normally very grumpy about doing this anyway, so this solves more problems than it causes. Please do not ask to have something moved, as we have no way of doing so.

    • Moderators have the ability to move images to the top of the front page that have already been pushed back quite aways. While this is nice and all, it’s not really fair to people who finish their pictures all in one go, and we prefer not to do it unless whatever you’re working on is a collaboration.

    • As you have probably noticed, there is a new feature called “Animation” that allows you to view an oekaki as it is being drawn (though normally sped up). This is extremely handy for finding out how people do their lineart or their coloring and some sorts of lighting affects, so we suggest you actually view the animations when you find a picture you think is exceptional. Just know that it’s a nice way to find new techniques for doing things.

    • Every artist is limited to two pictures per day. Any more are absolutely unreasonable and will not be tolerated no matter what. They will be deleted without question. Pictures that get deleted do not count towards this daily limit.

    • You may send images unfinished only if you are in dire fear of losing your work, however we ask that you spend at least an hour on them, and or must look at least halfway complete. Halfway complete means that if it has lineart, the lineart is done, and if it’s an image without lineart, that it looks recognizable as whatever it is. As soon as you are able to resume work on your oekaki, you must continue. Needing sleep, needing to clean your room, needing to go to school, etc. are not acceptable reasons for sending images unfinished, unless you have the direct permission of a moderator, who has posted a comment on your picture saying you can take a break. Do not pester a moderator about giving you permission, though, unless you really think whatever you’re drawing is an absolute masterpiece, and you really need a break.

    • You have 24 hours to finish any pictures you send unfinished. You may not send more than one unfinished at a time. If you send a picture unfinished and claim you will finish it later, then post comments or more images on either board, your picture will be deleted. If you have time to chitchat or do other artwork then you didn’t really need to safety save, and didn’t really have something else to go do. If you cannot finish in 24 hours, please oemail a moderator your reason for needing an extension. We’re understanding people and we’ll (usually) allot an extension and base the time on what it is you need to leave to do.

    Kouhai

    • Kouhai is a Beginner and Low-Intermediate skill level board. If you can’t meet up to standards, please post elsewhere and know that if you do post something substandard, it will be deleted without question.

    • If you are constantly posting substandard images (spam, hentai, etc. praticing is perfectly acceptable) after being asked to stop and after being told why these images are substandard, you will be banned. Do not throw a fit or spam the boards or the moderators because you couldn’t listen.

    • OEPost is not compatible with the new Oekaki Board, thus we can no longer move images when you post them on the wrong board. We were normally very grumpy about doing this anyway, so this solves more problems than it causes. Please do not ask to have something moved, as we have no way of doing so.

    • You may send images unfinished, however, you must be in dire fear of losing them to do so, and they must have at least forty minutes spent on them, and must have obtained the permission of a moderator to send them unfinished. Needing sleep, needing to clean your room, needing to go to school, etc. are not acceptable reasons for sending images unfinished, unless you have the direct permission of a moderator, who has posted a comment on your picture saying you can take a break. If you cannot finish in 24 hours, please oemail a moderator your reason for needing an extension.

    • Collaborations are allowed, if you can figure out how to do them. For collaborations, we ask that whoever first sends have spent at least forty minutes on the image. Afterwards, you and your collaboration partner have forty-eight hours to finish the collaboration. Please, no one should be claiming to do a collab when they really aren’t just for the extra time extension, so don’t even try.

Remember, none of us will bite your head off, and you are always free to ask us anything you want or to sensibly suggest things to us via oemail or e-mail, provided you have adequate reasoning behind your suggestions.
