MODERATOR ANNOUNCMENT - JUNE 13, 2009: Due to the outrageous inactivity the board has suffered in the past few years, I (Kree/Amb0rg) am taking responsibility and trying to get BakaNeko back on its feet! This means that while there are very few users at the moment, the strict rules that used to be in effect here are going to be lifted/lessened and users are allowed to draw to their heart's content, so long as they obey the general rules of being nice and not spamming. Since I'm assuming I'm the most active mod here (if not the ONLY active mod), please feel free to direct all questions and comments to me. My contact info is listed in my profile. Happy drawing!

THIS BOARD IS DESIGNED FOR 3 STAR QUALITY IMAGES OR HIGHER
  • Senpai is the BN Oekaki for the users who display High-Intermediate to Advanced skill levels. If you are unsure that you can meet this standard, please send a sample art via e-mail to a moderator.
  • The suggested minimum amount of time to be spent on a picture on Senpai is 30 minutes.
  • If you submit a drawing unfinished, you have 24 hours to finish it without a mod's permission. To finish it at a time later than 24 hours, you must get permission from a moderator.
  • If your picture is deleted, please keep your anger to yourself. No flaming the boards/mods..
  • Respect ALL users and remember, moderators ALWAYS have final say.
Failure to comply to these rules and any changes made can result in suspension/ban/deletion of account. It is suggested you read the news and notice both for updates.

As far as trying to paint realistic portraits of people in oekaki, I think hair is one of the hardest things to pull off. But honestly I think you did a pretty nice job here, especially considering the fact that it's more than one color! :9

Oh man, I can't remember the last time I did oekaki. It's been a while since I did a drawing for myself since I had been so occupied with school and work.

Looking back at my other drawings compared to this one, I feel as though I have come a long way and that I've improved significantly. Whether or not this image meets the 2 star requirement, it doesn't matter since I feel like this picture encompasses my best efforts and I'm very proud of myself for it.

The pose was actually inspired by a photo of a co-worker. I also got to explore reflected light more since it's still a new concept to me.

Woo, it's been a long time since i've been here! I used to go by Believe, but I forgot the password and the e-mail is obsolete. Not that it matters to me, since i don't go by that alias anymore.

I figured i should be good enough by now to make a Senpai-worthy drawing, but the background laziness muddles that a little...

(I listened to "I 2 I" and "Stand Out" from the Goofy Movie soundtrack and Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love" exclusively while doing this. Still am.)

And there goes an hour and a half I could have spent studying for those two tests I have tomorrow and/or writing the essay due first thing in the morning ;D

Best thing drawn here in months... great lighting on the hair/skin... just work a little more on the background so as not to have it looking so bare and you'll have a fine piece :)
